A primary expert system package including a series of empirical calculation equations and data for the design of technological scheme and dies of die casting has been developed by the authors. The platform of the Pro/ENGINEER CAD/CAM software, the MAGMASOFT simulation software were used.
As per the concept of concurrent engineering (CE), a CAD/CAE/CAM integrated system for die casting dies is established and applied in the primary stage. Numerical simulation of solidification is useful in getting high quality castings and minimizing product cost and scrap. These verification experiments will be on aluminium castings. If required a few verification experiments may be carried out in the foundry shop. After studying the practice followed in the industry and the problems encountered therein, the finite element modeling of castings will be carried out with the help of softwares Pro/ENGINEER and ANSYS available in the department.ģ.
